2022 National Ruben Salazar Journalism Award Finalists

It is with great pleasure that Latino Journalists of California CCNMA announces the finalists for the 2022 National Ruben Salazar Journalism Awards.

Since 1979, CCNMA has bestowed the Ruben Salazar Award to California journalists who have exemplified journalistic excellence while contributing to a better understanding of Latinos in the United States through fair and accurate reporting.

The winners will be announced Friday, November 4th during our CCNMA 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner. Tickets will be available until October 28th here.

“We had entries from all across the country representing large newsrooms, small-town TV stations and local newspapers, as well innovative journalism start ups,” said Mekahlo Medina, CCNMA executive director. “The best journalism exemplifying the spirit of Ruben Salazar was found in each of the entries that tackled social economic issues, cultural and historical events and people that shape our Latinx community.”

An independent judging panel of journalists from across the country reviewed the entries and determined the following top entries in four categories: Opinion/Commentary, Print, TV/Radio and Digital.
