Function

<>Duties and Responsibilities:

Morning Show Participation
  • Provide daily fresh and creative ideas for PPLM show elements and segments.

  • Monitor competition radio stations morning shows and communicate findings to team.
  • Listen to produced show segments for quality control as needed at the request of the production team.

<>Special Events
  • Assist and coordinate with local and network PD for PPLM special presentations (5 de Mayo, Independence Festivals, etc.) and be present on site the day of the event.

Network:

Position Summary:
This position is currently grant-funded for one year and is eligible for longer term renewal.
As part of MPR staff with a focus on Legacy activities, the Community Relationship Manager will be responsible for project management of activities, communications and relationship building as it relates to Minnesota Today communities and statewide arts and culture efforts and news initiatives.
While the Community Relationship Manager will work with the Director, Communications and other key partners to establish a strategy, the Manager’s primary focus will be on strategy execution. A key role will be to act as a liaison between Minnesota Today communities and MPR News to identify issues that would benefit from greater awareness. The manager would scope out opportunities where MPR News and local media outlets could team up on community programs (est. two/year) and events (est. five/year) that would engage a community in searching for solutions.
The Community Relationship Manager would actively look for opportunities to build relationships with communities, continue the dialogue, and establish on-going engagement.  In doing so, the manager would coordinate with the Communications Director in working across MPR internal departments including Marketing, Membership, HR, News, Content and the Public Insight team to heighten MPR's current presence in Minnesota Today communities and across the state.
Position Responsibility:
·        In consultation with the Communications Director, develop a strategy around MPR's efforts to convene Minnesota communities around issues that matter, and execute the strategy through various programs and events.
·        Identify community cause opportunities, and implement community cause programs in consultation with the Communications Director.
·        Work with community groups to support activities. Work with Communications and Marketing to create awareness. 
·        Work with Membership to devise strategies to include current MPR members in community activities.
·        Work with Underwriting and Development to explore any potential revenue opportunities.
·        Work with Public Affairs team to chronicle community activities and inform Legislature.
·        Work with Research to identify key measures and track results/impact from the community projects and on communities. 
·        Collect, analyze and share insights into MPR better serving communities.
·        Work with HR to represent our organization within communities.
·        Partner with Network Stations to publicize any greater MN events to ensure no overlap with other net station activity and to ensure clear role identification.

Required Education and Experience:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

wants to be a critical part of KSL’s on-air presence.
• Have an acceptable on-air presence and voice quality, which exudes confidence and projects a

KSL Radio and Television.

The Producer joins a multi-faceted team whose mission is to create a more relevant journalism of collaboration and community engagement, called Public Insight Journalism.™ This effort relies on a network of people - the Public Insight Network - who have agreed to provide their insights, first-hand knowledge, experiences and expertise to news organizations around the country, including regional public radio and television stations, online and print media, and national radio shows like Marketplace and Speaking of Faith. The Network Journalism and Innovation team at American Public Media (APM) envisions, invents, operates and spreads tools that allow news organizations around the country to creatively engage the Network and to collaborate on stories, projects and other ventures.  Team members use knowledge management, database and Web 2.0 software (including online games and collaborative tools) along with e-mail, phone, public meetings and traditional reporting methods to manage and mine insight from the PIN, and to create and leverage collaborative relationships that lead to high impact reporting and fulfill the information needs of diverse communities.
 
The Producer will create collaborative projects with news outlets from around the country that use PIJ driven information to re-think how we tell stories. Since social media and on-line tools are an indelible part of the culture we now live in, the Producer will keep on top of these trends, use them to engage sources and continually develop plans for incorporating them into MPR and PIJ’s presentation of news.
The Producer will also shoot and edit video, record and edit audio, create audio slideshows, and experiment with new PIN-related products, content, forms of engagement and modes of distribution. The person will rapidly prototype and test new products and services that unlock the potential of Public Insight Journalism, and make it portable, accessible, adaptable, meaningful, and sustainable.
 
Position Responsibilities
·        Work with innovation team and partners to develop goals and objectives for new products and services
·        Engage in the creation, prototyping and testing of new products and services for and from the Public Insight Network, and evaluate their impact
·        Work with APM national programs as well as MPR News editors, reporters and producers to identify opportunities that enhance our ability to engage the public, tap its insight, and turn that insight into compelling content and programming
