Mosaic played a monumental role in helping me decide to pursue journalism in college.  As I wrote in my college essays, Mosaic was the experience that confirmed to myself my interest in journalism.  I'd loved high school journalism, but the scope of it had grown stale to me - I needed to bring things to a "real world" level.  Mosaic helped fulfill that.  Covering the
Iran protests over the summer was an incredibly new and exciting experience to me, and I came back from that with a much clearer idea of what I wanted to do as a career.

Also, the connections you make participating in Mosaic are vital come time for college applications and scholarships.  I actually just asked Joe (Rodriguez) about writing a letter of recommendation for a scholarship.  And being a widely recognized program, I'm sure it was a major factor in getting me admitted to USC's Annenberg School.

All in all, Mosaic was an incredibly fun, but even more incredibly educational experience that is a must for anyone considering journalism for a major in college or as a future career.  Thank you, Joe and Rosana (Madrigal), so much for putting it on!!  If I had a say over the existence of all the different summer programs available out there, I would consider Mosaic indispensable.  Here's to many more years of it!

Just wanted to let you know about some great news. Matt, Rebekah, and I were all admitted into USC's Annenberg school of journalism (according to my admissions counselor, Annenberg is the best journalism school on the West Coast, I am very excited).

I really really wanted to thank you for all of the experiences and lifelong memories I had at Mosaic. Mosaic really changed my life and confirmed that journalism is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I really hope Mosaic is going to happen this year as well. My sister is also a member of the Smoke Signal (Mission San Jose High School's newspaper) and she was really excited to learn about Mosaic when I was applying. I told her that last year's Mosaic might have been the last and we were both devastated that she could not have gained the hands-on experience that I did.

If there's anything I can do to help please let me know. I am so very thankful.
